Hi Bloggers, we all want to gain as many links as we can pointing back to our blog. These links help increase our Page & Search Engine Rankings. I have over the past few months commented on many blogs that carry the NoFollow tags, but from a Internet Marketer’s point of view I needed to stay away from these. I agree partially with NoFollow tags because they reduce comment spam. Which to be honest is the worst part of running my blog. But if your like me, I only leave comment’s that add value to the blog post and sometimes it would be nice to get something back in return.

What are NoFollow Tags

NoFollow Tags were introduced to reduce comment spam

Search Engines give no link credit to site’s that carry the NoFollow Tags

A NoFollow Tag looks like this <a rel=”nofollow” href=”http://www.yoursite.com”>

How to find out if a Blog is using NoFollow Tags using the Firefox Browser

I have just recently moved browsers from ie to firefox which I should of done years ago I’m loving it. There is a Firefox add-on you can download that will easily let you find out which blog’s are using the NoFollow Tags. It is called Search Status all you need to do is download the add-on and reboot firefox and your ready to go.

Here’s how it works

Once you have rebooted firefox you will see a Q shaped symbol in the bottom left hand side of your browser. Right click on this and it will bring up a list just click on ‘Highlight NoFollow Links’. What’s great about this add-on also is you can do many more things with it, than just hightlighting NoFollow Links. You can view the whois, you can see robots.txt you can see how many pages are indexed. All in all its a great addition to your firefox browser.

Now that you have highlighted the NoFollow links when you go to someone’s blog if a link is NoFollow it will be highlighted in pink. It’s as simple as that.

Happy Blogging and Good Luck to all of you

Hi Bloggers, back to normality, hope everyone had a fantastic new year. Mine was absolutely fantastic minus the 2 hour delay at the airport last night. Could of been much worse though because 15 minutes after take off, the airport was closed due to severe weather conditions. That’s my bit of luck over for 2008 already.

Started back to work today, and boy as its been hectic. If anyone else out there in cyberspace, is also an engineer they will know machinery do not like cold weather, just like me I suppose.

If I ever win the lottery I’m moving to an hot destination that’s for sure. My teeth are chattering whilst I’m writing this, waiting for the house to warm up.

When you have been away from your Blog for a few days you can’t wait to get back and see what’s happening. Boy I’m amazed at the response I’ve received over the last few days. My post Link Love to 365 Random Blogcatalog Member’s as been my most viewed blog post and the links I’m receiving back in return are fantastic. Thanks to everyone who is linking to my little Blog it is very much appreciated.

I now need to try to write a least one post a week which will gather me more links. This is easier said than done for the little guy like me. But I will try to keep coming up with wild and weird ideas that I will share with the readers that will get the blogging world talking. My earlier post Advertise the Write way, with WriteAdvert.com was about me coming up with a unique website that hadn’t been done before. I think I achieved it, but my Internet Marketing Skills and SEO knowledge  let the site suffer a little. That being said I gathered quite a few reviews on the site and advertising spots were filled pretty quick. I’ve got 10 ideas that I will reveal in 2008, these ideas are totally unique and have never been done before. I’ve spoke to several of my work colleagues about some of them, and the response so far as been mixed.

Here are just a few of them

‘Is there a screw missing up there mate’

 ’That might just work’.

there are many more, but I can not possibly write these on a public blog.

It only takes one wacky idea though to make you rich online, so sit down and think about it and you may come up with the next big thing.

I’ve got a few hours to spare now till the missus gets home so I’m quickly going to check out what’s been happening in the Blogosphere and answer the kind comments I received over the New Year. Then I’m going to continue to work on my Niche Sites, bye for now.

Happy Blogging to all

Why pay for a Blog Makeover!

Hi Bloggers the topic of today’s post is this ’Why pay for a Blog Makeover’. Having though about paying for one myself I have noticed quite a few of the more well known Blogger’s are getting there Blog’s madeover for nothing. Tyler Cruz and Caroline Middlebrook to name just a few.

The first thing I did when I started the Blog in October was to spend a couple of hours looking for a good FREE Wordpress Template. I’m on my second one now and fairly happy with the crisp clean design, and have decided I’m going to stick with this one, well until some hotshot designer offers me a Freebie.

To be honest I know this is not going to happen for a very very long time, your Blog needs to be at a certain standard and have well over 500 Rss readers, and I’m crying saying this PartTimeBlogger.com isn’t that. At first I did contemplate buying a Blog makeover hoping that it will increase my readers, a nice blog design is all well and good. But you need the content to go with it and I’m the first to admit it I’m not there yet. If you look around the Blogosphere most of the top Bloggers have what you call Blog designs that are not easy on the eye. To be brute their plain darn ugly, but this didn’t stop these guys getting to the top. The only Blog design I can think of that made the blog what it is today is Johncow.com the content is good but it screamed out come back for more, I’m pretty. I really like the design and when the template came on sale a couple of weeks ago I nearly made the purchase. But decided against it because I didn’t think it would make any difference to my blog.Yeah it may of looked prettier but traffic wise I don’t think I would of seen an increase.

Why get a Blog Makeover?

My advice to all Newbie Blogger’s out there DO NOT PAY FOR A BLOG MAKEOVER. You may be asking why not, well if your prepared to pay for a blog makeover you must rate yourself as a blogger, and see it as an investment which will pay you back 100 times once you hit the big time. Don’t be a fool if your good and your content is good you will get to the big time without an expensive Blog Makeover, and once at the top Blog designer’s will be knocking at your inbox door desperate to makeover your Blog to get that footer link that will make them much more than if you payed them $500 for the Blog Design.

Another reason a Newbie Blogger should never pay for a Blog Makeover is this, Blogging is a Part Time game to most of us and eats into quite abit of our time. This is why most Blogger’s give in after 3 months of blogging they either have writer’s block or find out the time there using can be used on more worthwhile projects or down in the pub. I have even thought to myself, is this worth it. You only get get one shot at life, don’t waste it Blogging earning no money or at best very little money. But my biggest mistake  is not the time spent blogging it was the time wasting. I’ve eliminated most of that and I’m starting to make progress with my Niche Sites and Affilaite Marketing.

So my advice to all you Newbie and Part Time Blogger’s is to keep your hand in your pocket and concentrate on writing good content. There are hundreds of fantastic FREE designs out there just find one that suits you and stick with it till your offered a FREEBIE or you Quit. Sorry if the word Quit is harsh but I’m afraid most of us will.

Happy Blogging and Good luck to all of you!

Hi Bloggers, whilst checking out the Campaigns over at Entrecard I noticed a blog which has been at position 2 and evening making position 1 beating Johnchow.com in  the Make Money Online Category. The Blog is called InternetDreamer.co.uk. So I decided to check it out. It costs 246 credits to advertise on this Blog, and when you do it is only for 24 hours. But I noticed she is offering 125 x 125 advertising spots for only $5 a month. Bargain if you see now much traffic she is receiving from her alexa graph below. Beats spending 246 Entrecard credits any day.
